25 PH areas face dangerous heat; PAGASA warns

Twenty-five areas across the Philippines will experience dangerous levels of heat on Tuesday, June 18, according to PAGASA's latest forecast.

The highest heat index is expected in Aparri at 47°C, followed by Tuguegarao City and Dagupan City at 46°C.

Other areas like NAIA in Pasay City, Laoag City, Bacnotan, Baler (Radar), Cubi Point, Legazpi City, Masbate City, CBSUA-Pili, Science Garden Quezon City, Calayan, Clark Airport (DMIA), CLSU Muñoz, Casiguran, Sinait, MMSU in Batac, Itbayat, Basco (Radar), NVSU Bayombung, Ambulong, Tanay (Radar), Daet are forecasted to have heat indices ranging from 42°C up to 47°C.

PAGASA categorizes a heat index of 42°C to 51°C as dangerous, with higher levels considered extreme danger. Heat cramps and exhaustion are likely in these areas, while prolonged exposure can lead to heat stroke.

The public is advised to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities, wear protective clothing, and avoid alcohol and caffeine.
