Paeng causes P39M damage in Cagayan, total agri losses at P2.86B

Severe Tropical Storm Paeng caused P39.25 million in damage to agriculture and infrastructure in Cagayan.

Agricultural losses include P38.98 million for crops such as corn, palay, vegetables, fruits, and livestock, with 74,900 farmers and fishers affected across various regions.

The total volume of production loss is estimated at 116,291 metric tons, impacting 86,574 hectares of agricultural areas in multiple regions.

As damage assessments continue, the DA has allocated interventions such as seed distribution for rice, corn, and vegetables, fingerlings for fishers, and loans up to P25,000 with zero interest.
