PDEA seizes PHP70.8M shabu at NAIA Terminal 3

Authorities at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 intercepted abandoned luggage containing shabu with an estimated street value of PHP70.8 million on Monday.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized the contraband in the Custom Exclusion Room, international arrival area, at noon, which had been abandoned since September 2024 and turned over by the Bureau of Customs to NAIA.

Law enforcement units discovered five handbags, four file organizer bags, and one portfolio bag concealed within an improvised pouch containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, weighing approximately 10.7 kilograms.

The sender and recipients will face investigation while the drugs were handed over to the PDEA laboratory for further analysis.

Those involved in the drug shipment could face charges under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, along with violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
