Woman arrested at NAIA for smuggling PHP24M worth of cocaine

A 29-year-old Filipino woman was arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City on Thursday evening for attempting to smuggle more than PHP24 million worth of cocaine.

Customs X-ray inspectors flagged her luggage as suspicious, and a K-9 unit confirmed the presence of narcotics inside five bags during a search.

The suspect's flight details from Sierra Leone via Addis Ababa raised concerns leading to her inspection by NAIA drug interdiction task group members.

Police seized 4.574 kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of PHP24.2 million, along with mobile phones and travel documents.

In a separate incident in Cebu province, police arrested a suspect named Reymond alias Reymond for possession of PHP10.2 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation.

Nine packs of suspected shabu weighing 1.5 kg were confiscated along with other items from the suspect in Mandaue City.
