Metro Manila's COVID-19 bed capacity reaches 'danger zone'

Metro Manila has reached the 'danger zone' for bed capacity for coronavirus patients, with over 70% of isolation and ward beds occupied.

The DOH classified four other regions as being in the 'warning zone', indicating at least 30% of their isolation beds are already filled.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire explained that the 'safe zone' is below 30% utilization, while the 'danger zone' is above 70%.

As of July 12, ICU beds in Metro Manila were also in the 'warning zone', with 61% occupied and 36.3% of mechanical ventilators in use.
