Palace alarmed over surge in violence against women, children

The Palace expressed alarm over a reported surge in cases of violence against women and children since the start of community quarantine in March.

As of June 11, the Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded 4,260 cases of violations against women and children.

Around 2,183 women and 2,077 children have suffered violence during the quarantine period.

President Duterte mentioned this figure in his latest weekly report to Congress.

The Philippine Commission on Women has been monitoring and assisting victims of abuse and violence.
