OCTA: NCR's COVID-19 reproduction number up to 1.29

On Sunday, July 25, OCTA Research reported that the COVID-19 reproduction number in Metro Manila increased from 1.21 to 1.29 and cases rose by 43%, with an average of 897 new infections per day.

OCTA warned this trend resembles early February's surge and advised stricter quarantine measures when early stages were detected.

The positivity rate in NCR also increased to 7% while hospital capacity remained low at below 60%.

On Friday, July 23, OCTA reported the reproduction number was 1.21 with daily new cases averaging 851, a 39% increase from the previous week.

Despite this rise, hospital bed utilization and ICU occupancy in Metro Manila remained low at 37% and 44%, respectively.
