NU, UST advance to Shakey's Super League semifinals

National University (NU) and University of Santo Tomas advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 Shakey's Super League Collegiate Pre-season Championship after straight-set victories over their respective opponents on Sunday, joining De La Salle University and Far Eastern University in the Final 4.

Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon led National University to a decisive sweep over the University of the Philippines with scores of 25-12, 25-22, and 25-17, securing NU's spot for another semifinal showdown against Far Eastern University on Saturday.

Angge Poyos scored 15 points as UST outlasted the University of the East in a three-set victory, setting up a rematch against La Salle in the semifinals on Wednesday.

Belen contributed 12 points while Solomon added 10 to help NU secure their place for another 'three-peat' attempt, with both teams having previously met in the National Invitationals gold medal showdown last July.

UST's Angge Poyos emphasized the importance of staying composed and consistent throughout the game, which was key to their victory over UE despite a six-point deficit in the third set.
