National U Lady Bulldogs beat La Salle in Game 1 of Shakey's Super League finals

National University's new coach Sherwin Meneses is leading the Lady Bulldogs in their pursuit of a 'three-peat' against La Salle in the Shakey's Super League Collegiate Pre-season Championship finals starting Friday at Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Meneses, known for his success with Creamline, aims to help National U achieve another title after winning Game 1 of the best-of-three series on Friday.

The rematch of their previous meeting last month features formidable lineups from both teams, including National University's MVP Alyssa Solomon and Bella Belen, while La Salle counters with stars Angel Canino and Shevana Laput.

National U dominated the first two sets but needed to overcome a tough third set challenge by La Salle before winning 25-16, 25-12, 27-25 in Game 1.

Both teams recognize the psychological edge this series provides for their UAAP season later in the year, making it a crucial matchup as National U aims to complete its second title this season following their National Invitationals supremacy.
