St. Benilde wins Game 1 of NCAA women's volleyball finals

In the NCAA Season 99 women's volleyball championship, St. Benilde secured a decisive victory over Letran with a score of 25-21, 25-15, 25-14 on Sunday at the Filoil EcoOil Arena.

St. Benilde now holds a 1-0 lead in their best-of-three championship series and is one game away from winning their third consecutive title, having not lost a match for four years.

Michelle Gamit and Gayle Pascual each scored 14 points, while Zamantha Nolasco added 12 points for St. Benilde, who will play Game 2 on May 26 at the same venue.

Coach Jerry Yee emphasized that despite their current lead, there are still potential issues to address and two more games left in the series, urging his team to remain focused.

Letran's Gia Marcel Maquilang scored 10 points and Marie Judiel Nitura added nine points for Letran, who will aim to continue their bid for a first title in 25 years.
