Cotabato records first Delta variant case

Cotabato province recorded its first case of the Delta variant on September 2.

The infected individual is an elderly man from Aleosan town who had previously tested positive for COVID-19 in July and was later certified recovered.

Local health officials learned about the Delta variant infection after receiving results from a genome sequencing test conducted by DOH regional office.

Despite being recovered, the patient agreed to undergo another quarantine for observation and safety measures.

Health authorities identified 25 close contacts of the infected individual who are quarantined and repeatedly tested.
