Nisperos leads Alas Pilipinas to Pool A top spot in Manila Challenge Cup

Faith Nisperos made her Manila Challenge Cup debut for Alas Pilipinas in their semifinal-qualifying match against Iran on Saturday, scoring crucial points that secured the victory with a score of 25-16, 25-13, and 25-15.

Nisperos then delivered eight points in her first start during Sunday's match against Chinese Taipei, helping Alas Pilipinas secure a 4-0 record and top spot in Pool A with a decisive win of 25-13, 25-21, and 25-18.

After the match, Nisperos emphasized her commitment to playing for her teammates, coaches, and country, highlighting the importance of teamwork and leadership within the team, specifically crediting captain Jia de Guzman for boosting her confidence.

Alas Pilipinas became the first Philippine volleyball team - regardless of gender - to reach the AVC competition semifinals after winning all three games in Pool A with a 3-0 record, and they will face Kazakhstan on Tuesday.

Nisperos credited the success to strong guidance from coach Jorge Souza De Brito, as well as the leadership provided by veterans like Jia de Guzman and Dawn Macandili-Catindig, noting that Filipino fans' support has been heartwarming.
