Cherry Nunag helps PH volleyball reach AVC semis

Cherry Nunag, a middle blocker from Choco Mucho, celebrated her achievement as part of the first Philippine volleyball team to reach the AVC Challenge Cup semifinals.

Nunag expressed deep emotion and gratitude for being part of the national team after contributing four points in a dominant victory over Iran on Saturday at Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

The match was attended by 5,000 fans and marked Nunag's journey from being a Dasmariñas product to becoming part of a team that has climbed to No. 57 in world rankings.

Nunag praised the unexpected performance of the team despite limited preparation and highlighted the importance of reaching the semifinals for Philippine volleyball.

Coach Jorge Souza De Brito prepared Nunag, along with Vanie Gandler and Jen Nierva, as starters against Iran but emphasized the need for readiness in future matches.

Alas Pilipinas secured a faceoff against Kazakhstan after defeating Chinese Taipei on Sunday at 7 p.m., aiming to secure a finals berth.
