Philippines Reports Over 420K Coronavirus Cases with High Recovery Rate

The Philippines reported 1,799 new coronavirus cases on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to over 420,000.

Recoveries increased by 135, raising the total to 386,604, with a recovery rate of around 92 percent.

The death toll rose to 8,173 after 50 new fatalities were recorded.

Active cases stand at 25,837, with 83.5 percent experiencing mild symptoms and 5.8 percent in critical condition.

Over the past week, 291 more health workers contracted COVID-19, bringing the total to 12,021 cases among medical personnel.
