NCR's COVID-19 reproduction rate rises to critical 2.19

The reproduction number for COVID-19 in the National Capital Region (NCR) has increased to 2.19 as of December 27, according to OCTA Research.

This is a significant rise from the previously reported critical rate of 1.47 on December 30.

OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David noted that this is the highest reproduction number in NCR since July 2020.

The occupancy rates for COVID-19 hospital beds and ICU beds have also increased to 20% and 24%, respectively, though still below threshold levels.

David emphasized that compliance with public health protocols and reducing social gatherings can help control the reproduction number.
