NCR records 8% positive growth but OCTA says no upward trend

The National Capital Region (NCR) recorded an 8% positive growth rate in COVID-19 cases from November 8 to 14, according to OCTA Research.

Despite this increase, OCTA assured there is no upward trend and attributed the rise to backlog and readjustment of numbers.

OCTA noted that the seven-day average in new cases increased from 404 to 435 while the reproduction number rose to 0.52 from 0.37, still indicating slowing transmission.

On November 12, OCTA expected new cases in NCR to continue decreasing despite a slight increase in the reproduction number to 0.44 and weekly growth rate of -14%.

OCTA attributed this uptick to lower mobility during Undas and backlog in data.
