NCR positivity rate climbs to 12.3%, OCTA projects higher cases

The positivity rate for COVID-19 in the National Capital Region (NCR) rose to 12.3% as of April 26, up from 8.1% a week prior.

OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David noted that this increase is due to factors such as waning immunity, decreased compliance with health protocols, and increased mobility.

The overall positivity rate for the country reached 13.5%, nearly tripling the WHO's recommended threshold of 5%. OCTA projects new cases could rise to between 900-1,100 on April 28.

Despite rising case numbers, hospital utilization remains low at around 21% in NCR and across the country.
