OCTA: NCR COVID-19 cases may drop to 1,000 if MECQ extended

OCTA Research projects daily COVID-19 cases in NCR may drop to around 1,000 if MECQ is extended until end of May.

Current reproduction number is at 0.65 with an average of fewer than 2,000 cases per day.

Report also indicates that a downward trend in daily cases is possible if government eases restrictions gradually and calibratedly.

As of May 8, NCR had less than 1,900 new cases per day, down from peak surge period in late March.

Hospital bed occupancy decreased to 51% while ICU occupancy dropped to 69%, slightly below critical level.
