DA distributes PHP5K cash aid to over 200K rice farmers

The Department of Agriculture has distributed PHP5,000 in cash aid to over 200,000 rice farmers affected by the Rice Tariffication Law and the coronavirus pandemic.

In Davao Region, DA-Region 11 started distributing the aid on April 27 and aims to assist all 15,949 eligible farmers through Landbank of the Philippines.

DA officials emphasize that this assistance is not a loan but unconditional cash support for rice farmers affected by the RTL.

In Negros Occidental, an initial PHP23.65 million has been set aside for 4,731 small rice farmers who will receive their aid through Landbank branches in the province.
