Increased police presence in areas with COVID-19 surge

The government has implemented a national policy to increase police presence in areas experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque stated that this directive was issued by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and must be enforced by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

In addition to regular police personnel, barangay tanods are also being deployed to monitor public areas and ensure compliance with health protocols such as mask-wearing and social distancing.
