NCR achieves population protection with 50% fully vaccinated

As of Friday, Aug 20, 50% of National Capital Region's (NCR) residents are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, providing population protection.

Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez stated that around 70% of NCR’s estimated eligible adult population have received their first dose.

Dr. Edsel Salvana noted a significant decrease in severe and critical cases despite the surge in new infections, attributing this to the increasing number of vaccinated individuals.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chair Benhur Abalos confirmed that 11 million people in NCR have been vaccinated, with approximately 6.5 million receiving their first dose and the rest fully vaccinated.
