Habagat kills 5, displaces over 482K in Mindanao

Heavy rains from the southwest monsoon (habagat) have caused at least seven confirmed fatalities in Mindanao, affecting more than 482,000 residents according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

The NDRRMC reported that five deaths were validated - four from Zamboanga Peninsula and one from Northern Mindanao, with over 99,186 families affected by the bad weather since last week.

Approximately 5,611 individuals are currently residing in evacuation centers across several regions in Mindanao, while another 49,570 took shelter elsewhere.

The storm has damaged a total of 111 houses and caused P37.9 million worth of agricultural damage in Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, and Soccsksargen.
