Habagat, LPA affect 117K families in MIMAROPA, CV, ZP, NMM, Davao, SOCCSKSARGEN, BARMM; 5 dead, 1 missing

Approximately 117,676 families across several regions have been affected by the southwest monsoon (habagat) and a low pressure area (LPA), leading to moderate to heavy rain showers.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported that about 572,997 individuals are impacted in 429 villages spread across Mimaropa, Central Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Soccsksargen, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Over 5,395 families are housed in 53 evacuation centers, while an additional 65,739 families or 327,001 individuals receive aid outside these centers.

Seven people have been reported dead with five confirmed fatalities in Zamboanga Peninsula and Northern Mindanao; the remaining two deaths are still under validation. One person is missing in Northern Mindanao, and two others were injured.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration forecasts scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over various regions due to the LPA's trough and southwest monsoon conditions.
