Metro Manila, Laguna, Cebu City under MECQ from May 16

Metro Manila, Laguna, and Cebu City will be placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) starting May 16.

Under MECQ, public transportation can resume with limited capacity, certain industries may operate at half capacity, and individuals are allowed to leave their homes for essential goods and work.

Senior citizens in MECQ areas may go out for limited outdoor exercises and to buy essentials while observing social distancing measures.

The government is still finalizing guidelines for modified GCQ but will use general community quarantine (GCQ) instead of MGCQ in low-risk areas starting May 16.
