DOH recommends localized lockdowns over tighter quarantine protocols for areas with rising COVID-19 attack rates.

Health Secretary Duque cited a DOH sub-working group report supporting OCTA's recommendation for localized measures in Bauan, Batangas; Calbayog, Western Samar; and General Trias, Cavite.

From October 4 to 11, daily attack rates increased significantly: Bauan from 6.2% to 11.9%, Calbayog from 5.1% to 8%, and General Trias from 4.9% to 7.6%.

Duque noted that these areas still have sufficient hospital capacity for patients, thus a stricter quarantine level is not necessary at this time.
