Laoang seeks ECQ as 58 jail inmates, guards test positive for COVID-19

The local government of Laoang in Northern Samar has requested the regional task force to place Doña Luisa village under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) due to a coronavirus outbreak at the sub-provincial jail.

As of October 14, 58 people including 46 inmates and 12 guards have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Department of Health is investigating the source of infection and has augmented testing supplies in the province.

Symptomatic and asymptomatic patients are isolated separately within the jail compound, and contact tracing is underway to identify exposure sources.
