Meralco restores power to over 400K customers hit by Kristine

Over 400,000 Meralco customers were left without power due to Severe Tropical Storm Kristine as of Friday morning, October 25.

The number of affected customers peaked at over 566,000 on Thursday night and had decreased to around 360,000 by noon on Friday, with hardest-hit areas including Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, parts of Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, and Quezon.

By Sunday morning, Meralco restored power service to most customers, reducing the number of affected households to around 6,000 primarily in parts of Cavite and Laguna.

Meralco spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga reported that strong winds from Kristine toppled trees and power lines, causing disruptions; efforts to restore power began immediately after the winds subsided.

The company remains on alert with the entry of Tropical Storm Leon and continues to closely monitor weather conditions while ensuring full restoration within the day for remaining affected customers.
