Meralco ends losing streak, defeats Blackwater 103-85

Meralco snapped a two-game losing streak by defeating Blackwater 103-85 in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup on Wednesday at the Ynares Center.

Coach Luigi Trillo highlighted the team's improved sense of urgency, which contributed to their double-digit halftime lead and eventual victory, drawing comparisons to last season when Meralco overcame adversity late in the elimination phase.

Chris Newsome led Meralco with 19 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, while CJ Cansino added 14 points and five rebounds; Raymar Jose and Chris Banchero also made significant contributions with 12 and 13 points respectively.

Blackwater struggled despite Christian David and Sedrick Barefield scoring a combined 47 points; the team has now lost three straight games.

Meralco will face NLEX on Sunday, May 25 at the PhilSports Arena, while Blackwater takes on Barangay Ginebra two days later.
