Aguilar's last-second basket gives Ginebra win over Blackwater

Japeth Aguilar's game-winning basket with one second left secured Barangay Ginebra's 101-99 victory over Blackwater in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup on Friday night.

Aguilar received a pass from Scottie Thompson to score the winning basket, contributing to Ginebra's fifth win in seven games at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Coach Tim Cone praised Aguilar as the team's 'Batman' but expressed dissatisfaction with how the game was played, noting that they allowed Blackwater to get into a rhythm and made it difficult for them to stop key players like Sedrick Barefield, RK Ilagan, Christian David, and Troy Malilin.

Aguilar led Ginebra with 22 points and six rebounds, while Thompson added a triple-double with 18 points, ten assists, four rebounds, and a steal.

Blackwater suffered its fourth consecutive loss in the all-Filipino tournament, dropping to 1-6 for the season; they face San Miguel Beer on Sunday at PhilSports Arena.
