Meralco beats NorthPort 105-104 in PBA Philippine Cup

Meralco narrowly defeated NorthPort 105-104 in their PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup matchup on Friday at the PhilSports Arena.

Chris Quinto scored the game-winning basket with 2.7 seconds left, helping Meralco overcome a five-point deficit and end their three-game losing streak.

Chris Newsome led Meralco with 24 points, while Chris Banchero added 23; Joshua Munzon of NorthPort had an impressive 36-point performance.

NorthPort held the largest lead at 52-37 in the second quarter but couldn't maintain it as Meralco made a late push to win despite their efforts to keep the lead.

With this victory, Meralco will face TNT for a chance at back-to-back wins on Sunday, May 11, while NorthPort aims to bounce back against Converge in the following week.
