OCTA: Mariveles, Laoag, Lapu-Lapu see rapid rise in COVID-19 cases

OCTA Research reported a rapid increase in new COVID-19 cases in Mariveles, Bataan; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; and Lapu-Lapu City from July 11 to 17.

Mariveles saw its case count rise to 66 from 21 with an infection rate of 1.83 and incidence rate of 47.08, making it very high risk for COVID-19.

Laoag City's cases increased to 46 from 25, with an infection rate of 2.07 and incidence rate of 40.03.

OCTA also noted that Mariveles, Lapu-Lapu City, and Cebu City had the highest COVID-19 infection rates in the week ending July 16, with Mariveles having a very high infection rate of 1.85 and incidence rate of 40.66.

Lapu-Lapu City saw cases rise to 49 from 29 last week, with a very high infection rate of 1.70 and high incidence rate of 10.94; Cebu City had 98 cases this week from the previous 72, with a very high infection rate of 1.42 and moderate incidence rate of 9.68.
