Maring causes P2.26B in agri losses

As of Wednesday evening, agricultural damage caused by Severe Tropical Storm Maring has reached P2.26 billion, affecting over 79,000 farmers and covering 88,062 hectares.

The DA reported production losses of 105,943 metric tons of rice, corn, and high-value crops, with significant damage to irrigation systems and farm infrastructure.

Farmer groups are urging the DA to expand its assistance beyond the initial P1.5 billion commitment, noting that only a portion has been allocated for loans and indemnity.
