Maring causes P1.21-B agri damage, DA rolls out P1.5-B interventions

Severe Tropical Storm Maring caused P1.21 billion worth of agricultural damage affecting over 42,700 farmers and fisherfolk across various regions.

The DA reported volume losses of more than 68,800 metric tons from affected farmland covering 61,234 hectares.

Rice crops accounted for the majority of the damage at P967.1 million with corn and high-value crops also suffering significant losses.

In response, the DA has rolled out interventions worth P1.5 billion to aid those affected, including emergency loans under the SURE Calamity Loan Assistance Program.
