Marcos releases P265M for Davao flood victims

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. released P265 million to assist those affected by floods and landslides in the Davao region, with funds allocated across several provinces and cities.

During a situation briefing in Davao City on Wednesday, the President emphasized that aid goes beyond food packs and includes support for household needs.

The funds are intended to ensure an immediate response and provide quick assistance to victims, as stated by Marcos: 'I released P265 million to make sure that the pace of the response is immediate and felt by people. They have to receive help right away and have resources for their daily needs.'

According to provincial disaster risk reduction and management offices (PDRRMOs), the number of fatalities has risen to 18, with Davao de Oro province accounting for 13 deaths and nine injuries.

The total number of individuals affected by the Northeast Monsoon and a low pressure area now exceeds one million, as reported by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
