Marcos: PH on normal footing amid WHO's COVID-19 downgrade

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. stated on Thursday that the Philippines is already operating under normal conditions even before the World Health Organization (WHO) declared an end to the emergency phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Marcos emphasized there is no need to restore any emergency status in the country, noting the Philippines had removed vaccine certificate requirements earlier and introduced e-Pass for easier travel.

In October last year, Marcos indicated that while the country would not treat the pandemic as an emergency anymore, the nationwide state of calamity remained due to other non-health issues.
