Mapua University stays second in NCAA men's basketball with recent wins

Mapua University maintained its position near the top of the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball standings after defeating Jose Rizal University (JRU) with a score of 88-81 on Sunday and then securing another victory against Arellano University with a score of 77-71 on Wednesday.

Clint Escamis led Mapua in both games, scoring 19 points against JRU and adding 15 points, eight assists, five turnovers, and four steals against Arellano to help maintain their lead.

Chris Hubilla contributed significantly with 15 points and eight rebounds against Arellano, while Lawrence Mangubat added 16 points and five rebounds in the game against JRU, ensuring Mapua remained in second place with a 6-2 record.

Escamis emphasized that although the team is performing well, there are still areas for improvement, particularly on defense and execution of plays.

With their sixth win in eight games, Mapua now trails league-leader College of St. Benilde by just half a game as they aim to secure their first title in over three decades.
