Mapua edges out Arellano 77-71 in NCAA men's basketball

Mapua University edged out Arellano University in a hard-fought NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament game, winning 77-71 at San Juan Arena on Wednesday.

Clint Escarmis, Mapua's reigning MVP, played a crucial role by scoring 12 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter, including two three-pointers that helped secure Mapua’s lead late in the game.

Escamis also contributed with five rebounds, eight assists, and four steals, while rookie Chris Hubilla added 15 points and eight rebounds to support the team's victory.

Arellano University’s Lorenz Capulong led all scorers with 19 points and eight rebounds as the Chiefs fought back strongly in the final minutes but fell short.

The win moved Mapua into solo second place with a 6-2 record, overtaking idle Letran (5-3) in the standings.
