Mapua beats EAC 69-66, secures first win

Mapua University secured its first win in the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament by defeating Emilio Aguinaldo College with a score of 69-66 on Wednesday, September 11.

Lawrence Mangubat led Mapua with 15 points and five three-pointers, while veteran player JC Recto contributed 12 points and three assists.

Despite trailing by 13 points late in the third quarter, EAC mounted a strong comeback but ultimately fell short due to Mapua's defensive efforts that limited them to two-point shots.

The victory came a day after the NCAA confirmed it is conducting further investigation following a post-game assault on a referee, with the instigator coming from the Mapua camp.

Mapua tied EAC at 1-1 behind early leaders St. Benilde and San Sebastian, both tied at 2-0.
