Palace backs DOTr move: Commuters must wear face shields starting Aug 15

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has mandated that all commuters nationwide must wear face shields in addition to face masks starting August 15, 2020.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque supported this decision, stating that scientific evidence shows face shields can significantly reduce the transmission of COVID-19.

The DOTr emphasized there are no exceptions for medical conditions; those with high-risk health issues like asthma are advised to stay at home.

Health authorities have noted that using both face masks and shields considerably reduces exposure to respiratory droplets, further reducing the risk of contracting COVID-19 in public transport.
