Face shield prices rise ahead of public transport mandate

Face shield prices are rising ahead of their mandatory use for all passengers in public transport starting Aug 15.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) monitored stores in Nueva Ecija and found face shields priced between PHP25 to PHP349 with no sign of panic buying.

Consumer group Laban Konsyumer, Inc. (LKI) suggested the SRP for face shields should be below PHP50, citing concerns over profiteering.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire assured that the SRP will not exceed PHP50 and is based on material costs to ensure affordability for Filipinos.
