Makabayan Coalition launches 90-day midterm campaign

The Makabayan Coalition kicked off their 90-day campaign on Tuesday, February 11, as they aim for Senate and House seats in the 2025 midterm elections.

With a near-complete slate of 11 senatorial aspirants and four party-lists, the coalition is emphasizing direct engagement with citizens through house visits, community rallies, and visits to schools and markets across Metro Manila and various provinces.

Makabayan candidates launched their campaign with morning rallies in Manila and Quezon City, before proceeding to other locations such as Malolos, Bulacan; Cagayan de Oro City; La Trinidad, Benguet; and Baguio City.

The coalition's platform focuses on issues like soaring prices, low wages, corruption, and the lack of genuine democracy, distinguishing their approach from traditional politicians who rely heavily on media advertisements.

Makabayan aims to push for policies addressing economic hardships, labor rights, social welfare, and food security, including a daily minimum wage increase and VAT removal on essential goods.

The coalition also seeks to oppose political dynasties, advocate for peace talks with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines, and uphold human rights for marginalized groups.
