LTFRB vows free rides if another transport strike occurs

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) assured commuters it will provide free rides if another transport strike occurs.

The agency said it would coordinate with local government units to establish standard operating procedures for offering free rides during strikes, and urged protesters not to harass drivers who wish to operate along designated routes.

The LTFRB emphasized its commitment to coordinate with government agencies as part of the standard procedure, noting that it is already working with the Philippine National Police to ensure order during transport strikes.

This assurance comes in response to a potential joint strike by Manibela and PISTON to protest the Dec. 31 deadline for consolidation under the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).
