Igme exits PAR, heads towards Korean Peninsula

Severe Tropical Storm Igme left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 7 pm on Saturday, August 22.

As of 10 pm Saturday, Igme was located 585 kilometers north-northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 100 km/h and gusts up to 125 km/h.

Igme is moving north-northeast over the East China Sea at 20 km/h towards the Korean Peninsula and is expected to reach typhoon category within 24 hours.

Though far from the Philippines, Igme will enhance the southwest monsoon (habagat), bringing light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and Ilocos Region.

A gale warning is in effect for the seaboards of Batanes due to rough to very rough seas up to 4 meters.
