Año urges barangay chiefs to strictly enforce Luzon quarantine

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año urged barangay officials on Wednesday to strictly enforce the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon to prevent further spread of COVID-19.

Año commended hardworking barangay captains but warned that irresponsible officials may face sanctions.

He also encouraged residents to report any negligent officials and assured police and military units would assist in enforcement.

On Tuesday, Año called on local government units to innovate ways to effectively implement the quarantine, suggesting the use of government vehicles for transportation assistance at checkpoints.
