Leo Austria reappointed San Miguel coach, leads team to victory

Leo Austria was reappointed as head coach of San Miguel on Friday by Ramon Ang, replacing Jorge Gallent who became an active consultant.

Austria led San Miguel to a 106-88 victory over Terrafirma in his return despite being informed of the change only the day before and getting little sleep.

San Miguel's June Mar Fajardo flourished under Austria's guidance, posting a double-double with 21 points, 19 rebounds, and seven assists.

The team currently holds a 2-2 record in the Commissioner's Cup following their win over Terrafirma, breaking a two-game skid and debuting new import Torren Jones who replaced Quincy Miller along with recently added players Juami Tiongson and Andreas Cahilig to bolster their roster.

Austria aims to strengthen San Miguel's performance ahead of upcoming games in the tournament despite not having full preparation for the Terrafirma game, as they face a busy schedule including an EASL showdown with Eastern starting Wednesday in Hong Kong.

Both Austria and Gallent remain amicable, with Gallent expressing support for his former assistant who has now taken over as head coach.
