Atty. Stephen David stated that they need time to verify the authenticity of the documents used by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to conclude that Guo's fingerprints match those of a Chinese national named Guo Hua Ping who entered the Philippines as a teenager.

David expressed confusion and concern over how old records could be retrieved, emphasizing his right to reserve judgment until their side has validated the documents.

Despite the allegations against Guo, her legal team is preparing to defend her while they review the evidence and documents presented by law enforcement authorities.

The heads of the NBI and the Commission on Elections met to discuss potential election offense charges against Guo for allegedly misrepresenting herself as a Filipino citizen during her mayoralty campaign in 2022.
