SG asks court to cancel Mayor Alice Guo's birth cert

Government lawyers have formally asked a Tarlac court to cancel the birth certificate of suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo.

Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra said the petition is based on her failure to comply with legal requirements for late registration and will lay groundwork for filing a quo warranto petition against her.

The Philippine Statistics Authority has confirmed inconsistencies in Guo's birth records, including fingerprint matches with Chinese passport holder Guo Hua Ping, prompting the request to cancel her birth certificate.

Guo did not submit required supporting documents for late registration, and she failed to appear before the Department of Justice preliminary investigation regarding charges of qualified trafficking.

If her birth certificate is canceled, she will lose her most important defense evidence about her identity, Guevarra said.

Meanwhile, law enforcement authorities have filed charges against Guo for alleged illegal activities related to a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Bamban.
