La Salle defeats San Beda, secures semis berth in PBA D-League

UAAP champion La Salle defeated NCAA titlist San Beda, 82-71, securing an outright semifinal berth in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup on Thursday, April 18.

Despite being without UAAP MVP Kevin Quiambao, five La Salle players scored in double digits, with Joshua David leading the way with 14 points and adding five rebounds and four assists.

La Salle's full-court pressure defense led to 23 turnovers and 13 fastbreak points for the Green Archers, who maintained control of the game from start to finish, completing a 5-0 sweep in the tournament.

San Beda's Bryan Sajonia scored 21 points but it was not enough to stop La Salle's winning streak; San Beda settled for third place with a 3-2 record and will have a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals against Keanzel Basketball (0-5).

In another match, CEU Scorpions clinched their semifinal berth with an 96-78 victory over CCI-Yengskivel, securing the second outright semifinal slot based on their superior record.
