5th COVID-19 case transferred to new hospital

The Philippines' fifth confirmed COVID-19 patient, a 62-year-old man from Cainta, Rizal, was transferred to another hospital on March 8 for medical procedures and is currently stable.

He had severe pneumonia, diabetes, hypertension, and an acute kidney injury in addition to the virus.

His wife, who also tested positive as the sixth case, has not shown symptoms of local transmission.

Health officials are monitoring other patients at Cardinal Santos Medical Center who came into contact with the fifth patient; they have not displayed any symptoms.

As of March 7, the man was in critical condition but showed some improvement in oxygen requirement and blood pressure medication needs.
