Napolis wins Philippines' first World Games silver

Jenna Kaila Napolis secured the Philippines' first medal at the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China, winning a silver in the women's -52kg ne-waza event on Sunday, August 10.

Napolis, who lost to South Korea's Eon Ju Im in the final match with both fighters ending in a 2-2 tie but Im securing gold via advantage, is set to compete again in the open category which includes athletes from her weight up to the 63kg division on Tuesday.

Despite missing out on the top prize, Napolis won her semifinal bout against Israel's Pnina Aronov and qualified for the medal round by defeating UAE's Asma Alhosani earlier.

Team Philippines Chef de Mission Stephen Arapoc had expressed confidence in Napolis' ability to win a gold medal, but she ended up securing the country's first World Games silver.

Raph Trinidad narrowly missed a bronze medal finish in the cable men's wakeboard event due to a mistake in his final stunt, finishing fourth overall.
